Happy hikers

Mr. Zitnie and I headed with our Italian friends to Manly last Saturday. First we got on the ferry that brought us from Circular Quay (Sydney Harbour) to Manly. That was the fun part. Well, let’s not exaggerate, the first 6 km of the walking route ‘Manly Beach to Spit Bridge’ were not so bad either. We were happily unaware of the approaching climb (literally a rocky road) and Richard was still enjoying soles under his wedding shoes.

I hear you think: very appropriate fashion to wear at this occasion..? Good thing I could just talk him out of his suit, the dandy? Well, that was not quite it: the reason has more to do with his shop-hating and Allstar-lovin’. In short: the old sneakers can’t be recognized as shoes anymore, and by that time, you find out they don’t sell ‘size 43 Allstars’ in Oz. And you are forced to go hiking on your wedding shoes (good thing I don’t have the shopping problem or Allstar shortage… hiking on MY wedding shoes would be the real challenge!)

‘Who burns his but, must sit on blisters’, we say in Holland. Here the saying goes: who doesn’t shop, must cripple for miles. Similar blisters.

Despite of this light discomfort, we had the best time. The walk was amazing, as well as the company. Thanks Mauro for volunteering as our on the road caterer, and Tommaso for putting forward the idea. Check this blog later this week for more pics and Manly Walk Part II and III.
