There’s only so much ‘city bustle and free champagne’ a countrygirl can take, therefore it was about time we went on a bushwalk. Peace and quiet…fresh air… what a welcome change of scenery! And what kind of scenery:
Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park is part of the Guringai (Aboriginal) people Country. It is the second oldest national park in New South Wales and conserves some 15 000 hectares of sandstone bushland only 24 km from the centre of Sydney.
That, I think, is a fascinating feature of Sydney: the surprisingly quick transition from five million people and skyscrapers to ancient forests and wildlife. I can assure you, it keeps me from going screaming mad from the metropolis life. I need my weekly shot of trees and crawling and furry creatures.
Well… preferably not the scary and biting ones; that tick was not really part of the chillaxing plan, this was clearly a case of one sided love. It wouldn’t let go of me, the little stalker. Literally ‘get off my back, you clinging creep.’
After this force of nature, a girl needs some shopping therapy. Camilla and Marc, how’s your stock Mick Dundee hats going? Stash one on the side for me!
