Latest update: our moving plans are going to have to wait until January, because there actually is work that has to be done first! You’d almost forget, being so busy enjoying what Sydney has to offer, but fact is: on December 21st, Richard has to hand over his research proposal. Somehow we found the time to head out to Kings Cross this Saturday night.
‘Kings Cross is a wild mixture of prostitution and crime, with stylish restaurants and hotels. It has visitors of all kinds and although has some slightly run down areas has a certain quality to it as well. It’s also home to one of Sydneys oldest areas, Wooloomooloo. Here, opposite the Artspace Gallery, you will find Harry's Cafe de Wheels, open for 18 hours a day, started in 1945. It is a must visit on the way home after a night out.’ (Australian Explorer)
Sure, we spotted a red light here and there but managed to hold on to our bags and new sunnies, so again (see previous blogtxt) I have to admit it was an evening of average wildness. Well, we have Amsterdam and Velve-Lindenhof (our dear readers from Enschede will know what I’m talking about) so nothing raises our eyebrows anymore.
Next time we surely will land in Harry's Cafe de Wheels and afterwards curl up in those comfy ‘des chaises de fumée’ at Coco Cubano we loved so much. The Sugarmill brought us back to the eighties with Madonna, Michael Jackson and foam cocktails… Even think I saw George Michael, or was it his lookalike who grabbed Mr. Zitnies buttocks? Hey dude, only me and the biker of the Village People are allowed to do such a thing! But I can’t blame the bloke for trying.
Anyway, good thing we could cool off the next day during our Beach to Beach walk (Bondi to Bronte) where we enjoyed spectacular ocean views and the Sculpture by the Sea festival.
More pics after today: now we are celebrating our ‘half year wedding anniversary’, and I rather embrace my husband than the laptop. Cheers!
